Famous Bowl or Mashed Potato Bowl
One product. The January line renamed the Famous Bowl the Mashed Potato Bowl, moved its chicken layer from popcorn chicken to the hand-breaded nuggets and cut the price from $5.99 to $5.00; the mash, gravy, corn and cheese are unchanged and the calorie line holds at 590. The ordering app and the combo listing still say Famous Bowl, so both names are correct and the price is the tell. The bowl ladder now reads $5.00 flat for any of the three, $5.49 for the Smash’d bowl, $6.49 for the Pot Pie and $6.99 for any bowl combo with a drink.
Why the line exists
KFC framed the launch as a complete midday meal for five dollars at a time when lunch prices had climbed, and structurally that is what each bowl is: a starch base, chicken, a topping, one container and no decisions after the first one. The line also repriced two standing bowls, the Mac and Cheese Bowl from $5.99 and the Famous Bowl from $5.99 under its new name, which were the only headline price cuts on the 2026 ledger. The two that left
Matty's Cheesy Nuggy Gravy Bowl, the chef collaboration built on fries, brown gravy, nuggets and coated cheese curds, and the Spicy Mac and Cheese Bowl both launched on 6 January and no longer appear in KFC’s national listings. Neither was announced as limited; both dropped off as the line settled to three. Their pages stay up with the launch price and the composed nutrition, marked as off the current board, because both are the kind of item KFC brings back for a season.
